To start, you will have to sign up and create your Toonix. Every Toonix can be different due to the various customisations that the game offers. Some of the customisations can be pretty wacky too, like the toaster head. Choose your very own unique combination of facial and bodily characteristics for your Toonix and you’re ready to start!
Once you’ve arrived on Toonix, you’ll be guided through a thorough walkthrough whereby you are introduced to various features like room designing, buying items, traveling from one place to another. Generally you will learn how the game works in a simple tutorial. .
There are plenty of places that you can explore in Toonix. All these places can be categorised into 3 main worlds ‘Your World’, ‘ShopWorld’ and ‘GameWorld’. Interestingly, each location will have its own 3D platform game. Jump around to collect coins or if you’re lucky, you may find stickers for your collection as well! Some locations may require you to do some thinking in order to collect all the coins in the area though. So, it’s not all child’s play.
However, coins that you earned this way is very little, you’ll need to supplement that by playing some games at GameWorld. There are 7 games for you to choose from, such as Gridlox, Toonix hopper and Heli blaster. These games are basically remade classic arcade games, though games like Accelerator may remind you of the game, Temple Run, but in a 2D-scrolling platform.
Nonetheless, these games can get pretty challenging and will give your brain a run for your money. Not to mention, the 8-bit background music of the games may make you feel as though you’re playing one of the classic arcade games. Moreover, if you are really good at these games, you could try to beat the high score and dominate the leaderboard! This will give you something to brag about to your other friends in Toonix.
There are also quests or ‘challenges’ that you can do, which usually involve Hide and Seek games or finding objects in the many locations available in Toonix. However, unlike games, challenges will reward you with experience points (XP) instead of money. In order to earn more XP, you can buy items, decorate your rooms or re-customise your character. With more XP points, you will be able to level up and unlock more games, challenges, free costumes as well as more rooms in your mansion!
Decorating rooms in your mansion can be said as one of the best pastimes in Toonix. However, before you can start on redesigning your rooms, you will need items first. ShopWorld will have everything that you need! Since this game is developed by CN, you will be able to buy virtual merchandises of the many notable cartoon characters see on CN. Love Ben 10? You can buy that Ben 10 poster to put up on your bedroom wall. Enjoyed Dexter’s Laboratory? You can buy the robots that you’ve seen on TV to be placed as toys in your own bedroom in Toonix! There are even plushies from Adventure Time and many more!
After filling up your backpack with plenty of goodies, click ‘Edit room’ to redecorate your room. Toonix is basically a 3D platform game and this means that you are able to place objects in front or behind other objects in your room. Furthermore, the recolour feature enables you to change the colour of the furniture or decorations that you’ve placed at a click of the mouse! Despite the brilliance of the room editing interface, the only downside is that you are unable to put an object on top of another object.
