Players are given hearts and coins at the start of the game which serves as the primary health and currency in game. These can be earned through doing quests and mostly through other mundane tasks. However, these are also spend by doing tasks and quests so there should always be a moderation of usage otherwise the player risks running out of both resources. They can also be purchased with real money if the need ever arises.
Outside the apartment players are surrounded by many of the shops in town, these include clothing stores, a beauty salon, a jewelry store, cosmetic boutique and even a podium for cat walks and fashion shows. However, players need to level up to enter certain places so early game player have limited access to the town. But most of what is needed to play the game is ready for players to indulge and get lost in the world of fashion.
Shopaholic also has a competitive system which encourages players to invite their friends to play in order to compete in show downs and show each other their stunning avatars.
