My New Room 2 is a no-nonsense virtual world in which you get right ahead to decorating your own room. The game does not specify which room is it in the house, but that fact gives you a lot of freedom in the interior design. You decide which room it is in the house, and how it is decorated.
Take a look at the right side panel of the screen, and you can find the options for interior designing. The options are quite extensive. For starters, you have the wall and floor coloring. Who wouldn’t want to have absolute freedom in choosing what kind of flooring the house will have? You have this kind of freedom in this virtual world. You can add as bright a color scheme to the room, or as subtle as you want it: take your pick! There’s an entire color palette to choose from for your wall paint, and 9 pages of options for your flooring.
Of course, a room is not complete, will never be complete, without furniture. You can find a lot of furniture options to play with here in My New Room 2. You can pick from the mundane, to the amazing. You can ordinary couches and seats to the room, or you can add extravagant ones like a piano, a video game console, and many others. As mentioned earlier, the sky is definitely the limit in this game’s options.
Another decorative option you’ll definitely have fun with in this virtual world is the Pets category. There are quite a lot of animals that you can put into the interior design, including ones that are not meant to be kept inside a house. Imagine playing a pig inside the living room? Finally, you can add people into your home. Because this game is supposedly geared for young girls, the only choices you have are girls as well. Scroll through your choices and you can find girls in different flashy outfits and even poses: there’s one girl that’s on her knees cleaning the floor, which you can use if you’re trying to create a scene that involves house-cleaning.
You can find, at the bottom of the screen, the buttons to remove items from the design, to rotate the elements and to get the “Feng Shui” reading for the room.
Unlike most “design your room” games, My New Room 2 does not include any animated avatar that walks around the room. It does, however, include sound bites for the pets. This is because the game is apparently designed for kids to come up with their designs, print them and compare them with one another, and then redesign the room again as their creativity sees fit.
