My Cafe: Recipes & Stories is an incredibly addictive game in which players get to build their own café from scratch and eventually turn it into one of the town’s biggest hotspots. The game builds itself on the core fundamentals of this genre and even makes a few minor improvements to them in order to make for an exciting experience that players are sure to enjoy.
One small gripe that we have with My Cafe: Recipes & Stories is that it starts off quite slow. When you enter in to the game’s world for the very first time you’ll be given an empty building that you must build up from scratch. The game takes a while to ramp up since you’ll manually have to place a whole bunch of tables and stools before the customers begin to flow in but once all this has been setup, the game will become significantly more enjoyable.
The gameplay of My Cafe: Recipes & Stories feels quite similar to that of a traditional time management game. Whenever a customer walks into your café you’ll be required to take their order, prepare it and then deliver it to them. It might sound a bit too simple on paper but there’s actually quite a bit of depth to it. When you get to your customer you’ll actually get the chance to engage in a conversation with them or directly take their order. Engaging in conversations with customers improves their mood and might even increase how much they pay for their order.
The progression of My Cafe: Recipes & Stories occurs at a pretty steady place which is why this is the kind of game that you’ll be playing for many days to come should you choose to get into it. There are multitudes of café upgrades to purchase, kitchen equipment to setup and decorations to place. The best part about building the café is that you can customize its entire interior design according to your preferences. As you progress through the game you’ll also get to upgrade your menu by adding various new dishes to it.
In terms of looks, My Cafe: Recipes & Stories does not disappoint. The bright and vibrant colors coupled with the highly detailed environment make this game a delight to look at. The in-game characters look very lifelike, the animations are fluid and all these spectacular visual elements have been combined with high quality sound effects and background music to make the experience as immersive as possible for players.
The game is mostly free to play but it does give players the option of going through micro-transactions through which they can acquire in-game currency that can then be used to purchase things from the in-game shop.
