Each stage in Idle Digging represents a location that you have to complete to move on to the next one. There are different designs for each building that you create and they are based on where you are currently working. You will have to start on the top layer and end at the lowest one marked by an indent on the ground and the entire working space is also barricaded with wooden planks or rope to show you the size of your project.
The controls and mechanics are simple and easy to understand and master. Your workers do their jobs automatically and all you have to do are to manage the resources, upgrades, and get everyone up when they start lazing around. Every time they dig, you get coins in return and you can use them to upgrade your people and increase their productivity. The main buttons are located at the lower part of the screen while bonus features pop up at the upper right and left corners. There is no need for a complicated combination of gestures and you would only press on your target button to get things done.
You get six upgrade buttons available for you in Idle Digging. The three main ones are horizontally placed at the bottom of your screen and increase the profit, speed, and the number of workers while the other three are can be accessed when you tap on the face icon at the lower right. You can then improve the power, stamina, and critical dig chance of your people. Upgrading your workers needs coins and with each level-up, the cost will increase. The buttons light up if you have enough resources to meet the requirements and become gray if you don’t.
The lefthand side icons are for the location and ornaments that you can purchase in the game. You can buy things like a roof, trees, torches, and flowers to decorate your house. However, you need to meet their required level of completeness of the building for you to get and place them. There are a set number of decorations available per location and you can clear the stages without completely furnishing them. You can go back anytime and buy the remaining ornaments if you have the coins available.
You can check the Shop if you want to get additional coins via in-app purchases. You can choose individual items sold and there are bundles that you can have as well. The gems available can be used for power-ups like speed and coin boost and getting the help of the giant and the elder. These features are also accessible when you watch ads in exchange.
